about tony

My name is Tony Vera. You're probably wondering why they call me “The Fireman”…Born to an African American homemaker and a merchant marine Puerto Rican, my family moved to New York City at the age of ten so Mother could get a taste of the big city. I'd like to thank the New York City Fire Department engine 54, ladder 96, Firefighter Joe Rodd, and Firefighter Jimmy Brenner. You hooked me up with the name “Fireman”. In addition to my in- house fire department theatrical performances, I will always cherish the times I was able to sleep, eat, and catch rides on the New York City fire trucks.I began my career as a street performer in NYC's famous Washington Square Park. From there, I was able to hone my craft working in Ripley's Believe It Or Not, PM Magazine, and many other venues. Taking the opportunity to travel to Japan, gaining cultural insight, I was eventually led to Venice Beach , California . Venice Beach has been my home for the past 16 years. Performing every Saturday and Sunday for the locals and tourists from every corner of the world, I consequentially landed roles in TV commercials, most notably, Arrowhead Water and Pearl Vision. Other performances include “Somebody To Love”, staring Rosie Perez, “Underground Comedy” (in which I took on the role of O.J. Simpson), starring Joey Buttafuco; and the film “Tongs”. These led to performances in Japanese network television and theme parks. Further expanding my credentials as a performer, I have been credited in many well- known Spanish TV programs, most notably, Telemundo. Please feel free to browse my website for pictures and news.
